LLMs Enabled Big Brother
Transcript
Hey guys. Did you know that LLM providers actually have full control over how you use the LLMs? They usually know who you are, because you just sign in with Google or whatever. They see the exact queries you send, the actual questions you ask. They can see all the responses. They can access every file you upload: your documents, your images, whatever it is.
And the situation we’re in right now is that the Big Brother ideas are turning from a conspiracy theory into something real. LLMs enabled the implementation of Big Brother, or Big Sister, whatever you prefer, but it’s reality now. LLMs make it possible to process all your queries and all your data at massive scale, and that basically enables mass surveillance of every one of us. In the past it was possible too, but you had to pinpoint the exact person or organization you wanted, and then track them. Today you can do it at massive scale, fully automated.
It’s a big problem, and it’s something we have to deal with. I believe it will eventually be resolved. The question is how long it takes. Computers had the same problem in the beginning. Everything was transparent. Back in the 80s, everyone on the same computer could see what everyone else was doing, and that was just a consequence of immature technology. As operating systems matured, all these security controls were added. Right now we’re missing those controls for LLMs, and we should push for them as much as we can.
